• Put a Fence Around Pence

A couple days ago, Trump announced his VP pick: Mike Pence. Uuuuughhhhh. This guy might not be as bad as the man Donald, but he is PRETTY close. Let’s take a look at his track record. (If you’re on Hillary’s email list, then you’ll probably know all about this stuff.)

    1. HE HATES THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY! He once said that gay couples indicate “societal collapse,” and opposed the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (a homophobic law that applied to the military until 2011). He decisively voted against The Employment Non-Discrimination Act, a law to prohibit anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination in the workplace.

    What a fantastic guy.

    2. HE HATES WOMEN! Pence is vehemently anti-choice, and during his term as governor of Indiana, he cracked down on abortions. He signed a law that made Indiana one of two states where it is illegal to have an abortion if the fetus is found to have fetal anomalies. He also is firmly anti-Planned Parenthood. He authored the first bill to strip all federal money from Planned Parenthood*, then threatened to shut down the government over the funding of Planned Parenthood. Oh, and he’s also against closing the wage gap.

    Gotta love this gent.

    3. HE HATES FACTS! He thinks climate change is a “myth.” He also doesn’t believe that smoking causes deaths—“Smoking doesn’t kill,” he writes. Oh, right, okay. He also believed that shutting down an AIDS/HIV center in Scott County, Indiana would stop the spread of the disease in that area. This shutdown was followed by a massive outbreak of HIV. Great.

    4. HE HATES MULAN**. Is he human? And he doesn’t even hate the Disney film for just not striking his fancy—he hates it because it portrays a woman in the military.

So, I think we can conclude that Mike Pence is the LAST guy to be one heartbeat away from the presidency. Now that we know who Trump’s sidekick will be, it’s all the more reason to stick behind our girl Hillary and stand with her.
